The first annual BBSA Baseball and Softball Winter Camp were held from Jan. 2-7 at the Motithang HSS sports field. More than 40 boys and girls (ages 8-17) attended the week-long developmental camp.

Besides learning the basic fundamentals of baseball and softball, camp participants also were introduced to several team defensive strategies, including rundown plays, 1st and 3rd situations, and pickoff plays. A softball tournament was held on the final day with snacks served afterward.

"It was a great week of training," said BBSA International Coach Marvin Moore. "This camp and the upcoming indoor winter training sessions will help the level of play increase significantly this coming spring."

2023 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for the BBSA. Besides introducing several new youth baseball and softball leagues (8U, 10U, and 12U), the national baseball team program is kicking off. A youth-laden Bhutan Senior National Baseball Team will compete in a men's adult league that will debut in the fall.
