Bhutan: Winter Indoor Baseball and Softball Training
The BBSA will be conducting indoor winter training sessions for youth players in January and February. The sessions will be led by international coach Marvin Moore and the BBSA coaching staff.
The bi-weekly training will help prepare players for spring training. The first hour will be dedicated to boys and girls ages 6-12, and the second hour will be for players ages 13-16.
One of the main objectives of the indoor winter training sessions is to provide kids the opportunity to improve their hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, and baserunning fundamentals. Position drills will also focus on teaching the kids the responsibilities of their respective positions.
The other key goal this winter is to introduce the kids to several team defensive strategies, including bunt defense, 1st and 3rd situations, and rundowns.
"We want to prepare the kids this winter so that when we begin spring training next year, the level of baseball and softball in Bhutan will take a great leap forward," said Jigdrel Wangchuk, BBSA baseball coach.
