BBSA Coaches Spotlight: Tshering Zangmo

Tshering Zangmo

Tshering Zangmo - BBSA Coach

Why did you choose to work with the Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association?

I chose to work with BBSA because I love sports, and since this particular game is new to our country, I want to work hard to take baseball to all districts. I also want people around the world to know about baseball and softball in Bhutan. Finally, the most important thing is that BBSA gave me the full responsibility to provide girls with an equal opportunity to play baseball.

What life experiences helped shape your decision to coach youth?

Coaching has always been a passion of mine because of the experiences you gain working with kids. I worked as a grassroots coach and a women's district head coach of Wangdue cricket for three years, and it has helped me develop myself as a responsible coach. I want to share my experience and train kids who want to learn baseball, softball, and baseball5.

What do you find is the most challenging aspect of the game of baseball?

As the head of women's development, the most challenging aspect is recruiting young girls to try this new game. However, because the BBSA is affiliated with the Bhutan Olympic Committee and World Baseball Softball Confederation, I am confident that more girls will begin to play baseball and softball.

What has been your most rewarding moment as a youth coach?

My most rewarding moment so far has been coaching the Dechencholing U15 team. Every day I see the kids maturing, seeking advice, and always working hard. Although it is just the beginning, I enjoy watching the kids improve every day and that makes me feel proud as a coach.
