Motithang HSS to Host RICB 18U Men’s Baseball League Games

The Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan 18U Men's Baseball League will begin playing all league games at Motithang Higher Secondary School starting on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The league previously played games at Loselling Middle Secondary School, which sports field needed significant maintenance.

"I would like to thank the principal and team at Motithang Higher Secondary School for allowing the Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association (BBSA) to use their school ground to conduct the 18U league," said Sanjeevan Raj Gurung, BBSA Technical Head.

"Our goal is to teach the kids how to play the game of baseball in a fun environment that also helps them enjoy the benefits of physical fitness."

The BBSA will be hosting regular games every Saturday and Sunday. The top players in the RICB 18U Men's Baseball League will compete in an All-Star Game on Saturday, Oct. 15. The championship game will take place on Friday, Nov. 11, during the first annual Bhutan Baseball Day festivities.

The league is sponsored by the Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan (RICB) and co-sponsors include Number 7 Olakha, First Floor Restaurant and Bar, Hutah Dairy and Hayate.

The BBSA is the national governing body for baseball and softball in Bhutan, and is a member of the Bhutan Olympic Committee and the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
