Handing & Taking of Baseball & Softball equipment with JICA Bhutan
As we were moving on with an aim to promote the Diamond Sport to every nook and crannies of the Kingdom of Bhutan, starting with the schools in and around Thimphu; we have been challenged with shortages of equipment even to meet the minimum requirement to some selected schools, where our dedicated coaches and volunteers are training the students on a regular basis.
Like the prayers being answered, a compassionate gentleman and his friends from Japan, Mr. Yosui Ochi volunteered to donate to BBSA, a substantial number of equipment consisting of bats, gloves and balls. Under the noble initiative of “Smile for all in the world” and with this generous collaboration of JICA Bhutan, and with the constant networking by the BBSA President, the gift from Mr. Ochi arrived in our country.
With good news in the air, BBSA together with JICA Bhutan planned an event to grace this generous gift. We scheduled the date on 5th of September, 2021 for the handing and taking of the equipment coupled with a friendly match between the two winning teams from Dechencholing Higher Secondary School. A few days earlier they had played against two other teams in their home ground, to secure their stand for this day. The officials from JICA Bhutan, members of the BBSA and the volunteers joined the two teams. It was indeed a fun filled game with each team challenged to win. Some valuable experiences about Baseball & Softball were shared by our Japanese friends to us and to the children too.
The session concluded with the handing and taking of the equipment from Mr. Namiki of JICA Bhutan to Mr. Karma Dorji, the President of BBSA, and vice versa by presenting a letter of gratitude and Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Ochi through JICA Bhutan.
Expressing gratitude, the vote of thanks was given by Mr. Nabin Basnet, the Vice President of BBSA, followed by a speech from Mr. Namiki to share this beautiful moment back in his country, Japan and his colleagues at JICA.
The BBSA team convey our sincerest gratitude to JICA Bhutan for generously taking the effort of importing the equipment & gears for Baseball and Softball.
