Calling All Artists of Bhutan

Nationwide Art Competition

 Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association (BBSA) is excited to announce a nationwide art competition that will help promote our Diamond sports organization with a catchy, fun, happy dragon character playing each of the nine positions in a baseball team.

We are launching this competition on December 18th at the same time that BBSA launches our first ever 15 Under baseball league in Thimphu.

Winning artist will receive Nu: 100,000 as cash prize, plus a certificate of appreciation from Bhutan Cultural Exchange and Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association.

Winner of the Happy Dragon Baseball Art Competition agrees to give BBSA full rights in perpetuity for use of the artwork for all future promotion of the Leagues, Teams and efforts of the organization. In addition to receiving prize money, the artist will receive acknowledgement as the creator of the winning images.

Entries will be judged by the team of BBSA, a BCE Board member.

Theme: “Happy dragon in all positions of a baseball game”

Schedule

  • December 18, 2021: Announcement of the competition

  • January 18, 2022: Last date of submission of art

  • February 18, 2022: Notification of selected art

Happy Dragon Art Competition Criteria

  • 1. Artwork must be in a color medium and a minimum size of A4.

  • 2. Contest open exclusively to citizens of Bhutan.

  • 3. Each entry must include nine separate drawings each on a minimum A4 paper size.

  • 4. Each of the drawings must be clearly interpreted by the viewer as representing the nine positions within a baseball team.

  • 5. Each of the drawings must include a dragon.

  • 6. Entrees will be judged based on Quality, Creativity and originality of the depicted theme.

  • 7. Artwork may be submitted in original color drawing / color painting (Oil, Watercolor, Pastel, Acrylic) / color digital art.

  • 8. Artists are expected to research all 9 positions of baseball players to enable accurate depiction of themes.

    Positions on every baseball team:

    1. Pitcher 2. Catcher 3. First Baseman 4. Second Baseman 5. Third Baseman

    6. Shortstop 7. Left Fielder 8. Center Fielder 9. Right Fielder

  • 9. Once the selections have been concluded, the Winning artist will be contacted directly by BBSA for all appropriate arrangements. Names of the winning artist will be published on the official website of the contest (www.bhutanbaseball.org) by the following deadlines: Notification of selected artist: February 18, 2022

  • 10. BBSA reserves the right to disqualify any submission due to poor quality, incompleteness, poor taste, inappropriateness of content, or concerns regarding copyright infringement in the original work.
